<image:title>Blog - How to change your identity</image:title>
<image:caption>To shift your identity, you first have to believe you can change. You need to be willing to let go of the old stories you’ve told yourself and start telling a new one. This can be difficult because we often feel attached to our current identity, even if it’s not serving us. But shifting doesn’t mean abandoning who you are—it’s more about evolving. Think about when you transitioned from being a high school student to a college student. You adopted a new identity without much struggle. It’s the same concept here, just on a more conscious level. What identity do you want to choose for yourself? Who do you want to be? What narrative do you want to tell yourself?</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/61ddfebe67b5e72c9c7bcdae/1726103109893-K1QSJA3KCA1LSDAA2CPC/unsplash-image-npxXWgQ33ZQ.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Blog - How to change your identity - Implementation:</image:title>
<image:caption>Learning about and understanding a concept is great, but the action and implementation part of the equation is where all the magic happens. So grab a piece of paper and write this down: On one side, write “Identity.” On the other, write “Behaviors.” Under “Identity,” list the new version of yourself you want to become. Then, under “Behaviors,” write specific actions that align with this new identity. For example, if you want to be someone who’s tidy, your behaviors could be: “Clean the kitchen after dinner,” “Put dirty clothes in the hamper,” or “Spend 10 minutes tidying up before bed.” Alternatively, you can reverse this. Write down behaviors you want to adopt, then identify the self-perception that would make these actions more natural for you. Focus on just 1-2 areas to start. As you stay committed to these, you’ll notice shifts in other areas of your life as well.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Mindset shifts that will help you eat healthier - It wasn’t until college that I started to expand my palate, and it wasn’t until after graduation that I made a major shift towards eating about 90% whole, nutrient-dense foods—and actually enjoying it. What made this transformation possible wasn’t a strict diet plan or willpower — it was changing the way I thought about food. I can’t make you see things differently, but I can share the perspectives that have made big shifts in my life and those of my clients: Eating healthy is boring and restrictive --> healthy food can be delicious and just as satisfying</image:title>
<image:caption>I bet a lot of us have this narrative floating around somewhere in our minds. It’s how healthy food tends to be portrayed, especially by commercials and sitcoms (at least, that’s the case in my memory).</image:caption>

<image:caption>This narrative does not feel good AND it probably sabotages your goals. it’s simply that they’re doing what they want to do and you’re doing what you want to do.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - HOW TO GET YOURSELF TO EXERCISE REGULARLY AND EAT HEALTHIER Pt. 2</image:title>
<image:caption>Something to understand is that initially feeling unmotivated or resistant to doing something doesn’t have to mean anything. You always have the opportunity to choose your own thoughts and actions in the moment. You can feel resistance or feel unmotivated and choose to cultivate thoughts and feelings that will make you feel motivated, or you can also choose to do the thing even without those feelings. You’re the one in control over your own brain ;). When it comes to what you’re working on getting yourself to do, whether it’s getting to the gym, going for a walk, going to the grocery store, cooking a meal, etc., there are different tools you can look to employ: Shift your thoughts. What thoughts help you take action (you’ll have to play around with this and see what works best for you) Think about why you DO want to do the thing and/or what you DO enjoy about it. Think about how you’ll feel after you do the thing. You can also think about your future self and think about what your future self with be gratfeul you did. You can create a reward system where you do something you enjoy only while you workout or cook such as listen to your favorite podcast, watch your favorite show, or have a fun drink. Give yourself a choice in the moment. For example, you can ask yourself if you’d rather go on a walk or lift weights, if you’d rather do upper body or lower body, if you’d rather cook chicken or salmon, or if you’d rather throw together a side salad or pop some veggies into the air fryer.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - HOW TO GET YOURSELF TO EXERCISE REGULARLY AND EAT HEALTHIER Pt. 2 - You want to have a plan.</image:title>
<image:caption>Unfortunately, “I’m going to move more and eat healthier” isn’t a very good plan. Having vague goals and plans isn’t likely to get you very far. We can have all the intentions in the world to follow through with this, but without getting very specific on the actions we’re going to do, it’s unclear to our brains exactly what we’re aiming to do and becomes far to easy to let things fall to the wayside. Have a specific plan for how you’re going to start moving in the direction of exercising more or eating healthier. This can look like going from “I’m going to move more” to “I’m going to walk for 20 minutes after lunch each day” or, going from “I’m going to eat healthier” to “I’m going to buy a few fruits and vegetables at the store and add them to my meals this week.” In both instances, the reframe tells you what you’re going to do, which makes things so much easier for our brain to follow through with. With creating your plan, think about your journey to becoming someone who exercises regularly and eats healthy like climbing a ladder, taking one step at a time, instead of trying to get to the roof of the building in one jump.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - What to do when you're feeling so-so about your goals - As always, it comes back to your inner dialogue (you’re surprised, aren’t you ;)).</image:title>
<image:caption>You probably find yourself in situations where you start to debate whether or not you want to do the thing, if you feel like doing it, if it’s even worth doing. Why go to the gym when I’ve had a long day and I’m so cozy here on the couch?? We start to talk ourselves OUT of doing the things we were aiming for. Our internal dialogue makes an argument for not changing or sticking with these actions, which doesn't bode well for seeing the changes we want to in ourselves and our lives.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - A mindset that can help you stop falling off track - What if when thoughts of not feeling like doing it or an excuse to push it off came up you didn’t even entertain or give them attention? What if you just let them float by like a cloud in the sky and didn’t assign any meaning to them?</image:title>
<image:caption>Or what if when you did entertain those thoughts, you counteracted them with thoughts that would direct you toward taking action anyway? For the sake of providing you with helpful ideas, when it’s time for me to workout and I hear my brain say “I don’t feel like it, I don’t need to go today,” I notice those thoughts and then decide to choose thoughts like “I want to be the person who stays consistent with her exercise routine” or “I love feeling strong and know I’ll be glad I did it so I’m just going to go.” And that’s it. Discussion closed. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - A mindset that can help you stop falling off track - What if you were to do the thing even when you didn’t feel like it? What if whether you felt like it or not wasn’t a factor in following through with the action?</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - How to get yourself to exercise regularly and eat healthier - While we’re on the topic of thinking less rigidly, I want you to take the notion of being perfectly consistent and throw it out the window. Consistency IS what’s going to help you reach whatever outcomes you desire, but the way most people think about consistency isn’t helping them stick with things long-term (which is the point, right?).</image:title>
<image:caption>Instead of thinking about keeping up with consistency, I want you to think about your actions in terms of frequency. Envision a monthly calendar where I’m putting a dot down on each day I stick to my goal. For many people, thinking about consistency would look like trying to get as many days in a row as I can with a dot in it. This isn’t inherently problematic. The problem comes when this gets discouraging after missing a few days or after a few weeks you see that you still miss a day (or multiple) here and there and think “what’s the point?” It matters far more that you continue with your goal than sticking with it nearly perfectly. Go back to envisioning the calendar. Instead of focusing on how many times you can stick with it consecutively or how you think you should, think about your frequency. It matters so much more how many dots are on the calendar than how many dots are next to each other. If you miss a few days or a few weeks you can still go back to doing it. If you zoom out to a yearly calendar, the person who was super consistent and then dropped off after falling off track for a weekend or two will have made much less progress than the person who has dots all over the place but is still doing the thing a year later.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - How to get yourself to exercise regularly and eat healthier - Your current beliefs and perspectives are valid, AND you get to choose if you want to reframe your perspectives and beliefs.</image:title>
<image:caption>Maybe you’ve viewed exercise as a chore your whole life, but while that may be the case for your past, you can start to shift your frame of mind for current and future you. What if you started to focus on a new perspective of exercise? Maybe you can view it as something you do for your “you time”, a way to help you de-stress, a way to feel like a badass, or a way to feel better mentally.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Write down (yes, write it down somewhere… trying to keep everything in our head doesn’t tend to work out well, no matter how much we convince ourselves it’ll work for us lol) something you recognize you tend to experience resistance with (going to work out, cooking food, tidying your house, paying bills, etc). Now that you’ve written that down (since you did indeed write it down ;) ), write out two options from the list above for what you will do when this happens.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Overcoming resistance - You could be experiencing resistance for a variety of reasons - the discomfort of change being one of them.</image:title>
<image:caption>The title of this blog is misleading as the point isn’t necessarily to overcome resistance. Even if you do for one task or in one area, you will continue to experience resistance throughout your life. The point is to be able to notice resistance and know how to navigate doing the thing anyway. Quick disclaimer: If you are experiencing a heightened sense of resistance to something in particular, don’t ignore this. Look into why this might be. Maybe this particular thing is just not the thing for you. Maybe you need to approach it differently or change what you’re doing to something that has the same or a similar outcome. Maybe there are deeper beliefs or fears for you to look at and address.</image:caption>

<image:caption>SPENDING TIME IN NATURE Being in nature has shown to do wonders for our nervous system and for lowering our stress response. Explore how you can fit being in nature more often into your daily or weekly routines. USE YOUR BODY, NOT YOUR BRAIN, TO CALM DOWN Telling yourself to calm down doesn’t work… just like telling your partner to calm down in a heated moment likely doesn’t either. We need to use our bodies to signal to the brain we are okay. That’s why all of the above practices have to do with using our bodies to get into a parasympathetic state.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - How to regulate your nervous system</image:title>
<image:caption>NSDR Non Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) is getting your body into a deeply relaxed state. This can be done through deep breathing, meditation, and practices like yoga nirda. It’s recommended by neuroscientists that we practice a form of NSDR one to two times a day. Meaning, take a 10-15 minute break one to two times a day. And this is a true break. No phone, no TV, no podcast. Stare out of the window and breath deeply for 10 minutes. Put on your headphones and go through a 10 minute yoga nrida video on youtube. Or do a 10 minute guided meditation. This helps our body relax and recharge for better focus and function, and helps keep our nervus systems from reaching really heightened states of stress.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - How nervous system regulation will help you change your behaviors and become who you desire to be - A few years later I’m on Instagram and as I scroll through my feed I see a post about nervous system dysregulation. AN ANSWER. It all suddenly made SO much sense. Since discovering that post in 2019, I’ve learned so much more about nervous system regulation (NSR) and its intimate relationship with our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.</image:title>
<image:caption>This was back in 2019. Since then, I’ve learned so much more about nervous system regulation (NSR) and the intimate relationship it has with our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It plays such a vital role in being able to change our thoughts, feelings, and actions, yet it’s rarely talked about in the fitness, nutrition, or behavior change coaching spaces. However (!), as I write this in 2023, I’ve recently seen NSR being talked about so much more in recent months. I personally can’t wait to see the day we are all living with much more regulated nervous systems!</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - The power of future-self journaling - Method 3: If you have something specific you’re working on accomplishing or changing, such as a project you’re working on, having a specific fitness and nutrition goal, becoming more organized, becoming less emotionally reactive, etc, we can make future self journaling more specific to really hone in on this. Write out your specific goal, then write out what you need to do to accomplish this goal. What specific actions do you have to take? How do you need to think about things? What habits or routines would be helpful? What personal qualities would be helpful to have? What do you need to do and who do you need to be? Write this out for clarity. Then, you can create affirmations or mantras from your answers to the questions above to write or say every day. With this clarity, create specific goals and a concrete action plan to help you achieve what you're setting out to.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The power of future-self journaling - Method 1: Set your timer for 10-15 minutes and journal “as if” you were the version of yourself you desire to be. Let yourself feel like you are the ideal future version of yourself writing about your day and how you feel in your journal.</image:title>
<image:caption>Write out all of your dreams, desires, and who you want to be in the present tense. Write “as if.” What happened in your day? What are you grateful for? How do you feel? How are you thinking? You can use this to remind yourself of certain actions you want to start taking and to help you take on this new persona. Behaving like and feeling like the ideal future version of yourself is so helpful in you actually becoming that version of yourself. Do this every day either writing in a journal or speaking out loud. I believe saying it out loud is more powerful, but it’s up to you!</image:caption>

<image:title>My Story - My Story</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi! I’m Brianna, a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach with a Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. I’ve always known I wanted to make a career through helping people, and while I was in college I was planning on going to physical therapy school. During my college years, I had this innate desire to get fit and healthy, but I really struggled to make that happen. While I was in high school I didn’t exercise often and a majority of my diet was processed food. After deciding to start my health and fitness journey, I tried various fad diets, I tried eating like the girls I wanted to look like did on Instagram, and I started working out in ways I thought would be effective. But between lack of proper knowledge, getting in my own way, and not knowing how to properly balance the stress and responsibility that came with being a full-time college student trying to pay her way through college and fill her resume with extracurriculars, I couldn’t seem to change my body in the way I wanted to. It took a few years, but I eventually learned how properly exercise + eat in a way that aligned with my goals and was sustainable for me. Not only do I now live my life completely differently than I did before deciding to pursue health and fitness, I genuinely enjoy it. My journey consisted of a lot of trials and errors… a lot of trying diets that didn’t work for me, a lot of self-sabotage and getting in my own way, a lot of disappointment, a lot of wondering why things weren’t working for me, and a lot of realizing how big mindset and perception play a role in behavior change. But this journey made me realize what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to help people with their health and fitness journeys so they didn’t have to go through all the trials and errors and the frustrations that come with that that I did. Looking back, I’m really thankful for my time spent failing as those experiences have equipped me to better understand my clients’ struggles and help me better help them. Experiencing the impact that nutrition and lifestyle changes had on the way I physically felt, the way I felt about myself, and how this lifestyle continuously reminds me to work towards being a better version of myself, I knew my calling was to help others experience the same. I now get to spend my days helping others make this transformation and it brings so much joy to my life.</image:caption>

<image:title>1:1 Nutrition Coaching - There’s a lot of information out there when it comes to nutrition, and it can easily get overwhelming. I’m here to help simplify nutrition and help you find sustainable practices that work for you.</image:title>
<image:caption>No one has the same body, lifestyle, desires, or struggles, so I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. I take an individualized and personalized approach when working with my clients to help them get the best results. Working together on your nutrition can help you achieve a variety of things such as: Learning how to navigate nutrition in a way that supports how you want to look, feel, and your lifestyle Building healthier habits Changing your mindset and perceptions around food to support you and your goals Changing body composition by losing fat or gaining muscle Improving your performance in the gym and in your hobbies I truly believe changing your relationship with food and working on your nutrition can change your life for the better. I’m here to help you find eating habits that help you feel your best, reach the goals you have, and become the best version of yourself.</image:caption>

<image:title>1:1 Online Training - Everyone deserves to feel strong and fit, but with so much conflicting information it can be hard to know what’s the best way to go about achieving your fitness goals.</image:title>
<image:caption>There are so many options out there when it comes to what types of workouts to do and what exercises you can include, but not all workouts, exercises, and the progression of these are created equal. A lot of factors come into play when it comes to programming workouts that actually produce results. If you're putting in the effort to work out, might as well do so in a way that yields the results you want! I create individualized programs based on your goals, your history, your specific body, and the equipment you have available. If you have specific fitness goals or feel like you need some guidance in your training journey, 1:1 online training is for you!</image:caption>
